The PPGS Virtual Book Sale is back! Join us for this great opportunity to find genealogical references for people or places you're researching, an in-depth look at the life of a prominent person, a fascinating and educational look at some aspects of history, some relaxed reading, periodical issues that you've missed, or maybe a new cookbook.
The sale will run from 8:00am January 3, 2026 to 5:00pm January 17, 2026. The sale will be held this year through the Givebutter non-profit fund-raising site. The move to this site means:
- You can start previewing all of the items on the sale now just by following the links to the auction below. No waiting for the official start of the sale. This gives you two and a half weeks to look over the sale items even before the two weeks of the sale itself.
- The ability to Favorite items (you must register to bid first, no obligation to bid just because you registered) so that you can easily go back to them to start a bid or increase your bid.
- Provide real-time automatic outbid notices so that you will always know as soon as someone tops your current bid.
- An automatic roll-up of all your winning bids as soon as the sale is over. But if you need shipping, you’ll have to get that amount from the sale Coordinator.
Please read ALL of the explanatory material for the sale on the OVERVIEW tab so that you understand how the sale will be conducted. All proceeds of the sale go to the PPGS General Fund to support our monthly speaker program and our educational program.
Listed will be 887 items in the categories of: Alaska & the Poles; Biographies/Autobiographies; Cooking, Gardening & Nature, Crafts; Family Histories; Genealogy Reference & Methods; General Fiction & Nonfiction; History; Maps & Other Graphics; Native American; Periodicals & Newsletters; and Other/Misc. Many of these books are rare and/or out-of-print. This is particularly true of the Family Histories material. Special items/collections in the sale this year include:
- The Genealogy Reference collection contains 268 items both specific to a location and broader materials including preserving documents, dating photographs, military atlases, brick wall solutions, crafts & trades, and more.
- The History collection has 260 items, with books on cities, states, international locations, and much more. Note that much of our history collection came from a PPGS member and are in virtually new condition.
- The Family Histories collection has 85 items, many of these were very limited editions, often self-published and hard to find. We even have a handful of short, personal family histories that are likely one of a kind. You’re going to want to look at these in case one is for your family.
- The Autobiography/Biography collection has 52 items ranging from presidents and military leaders to travelers/explorers, and celebrities. You’re bound to find someone who interests you.
- Need a break from Genealogy? Try out one of the 222 other books in a variety of categories on offer – including the first seven books of the Jefferson Tayte genealogical mystery series.
Bids are welcome from purchasers not local to the Colorado Springs area or who, for other reasons, may require their items to be shipped. Shipping costs (media mail rates, faster methods by purchaser request) must be covered by the purchaser.
